The outrigger hip roof L-4 ground house without catwalk at Harl Butte
was built in 1954, replacing another L-4 dating from 1934. The
Wallowa-Whitman National Forest site overlooks the lower reaches of the Hells
Canyon National Recreation Area and is in active service.
