The 40’ steel tower with a CL-100 metal 14’x14’ cab at Monte Vista Lookout was built in 1966. It replaced a 30’ Aermotor tower built in 1922 that in turn had replaced a crow’s nest tower dating to 1916. The Coronado National Forest station is in active service and will be initially listed on the National Lookout Register until it reaches 50 years of age in 2016.
