Twenty five miles south of Lassen National Park stands Colby Mountain Lookout in the Lassen National Forest. The first lookout on the site was built in 1912 and replaced by the CCC in 1934. The 14' x 14' L-4 cab with catwalk sits atop a 40' steel tower.
This lookout also has a commanding view of the south face of the Mt. Lassen
National Volcanic Park to the north and the Ishi Wilderness to the west. Still in active service, it is open from June until late October.
