When the 30' pole L-4 tower was built at Ziegler Mountain Lookout in
1928, the 50-mile long Lake Koocanusa and Libby Dam right below it did not
exist. When the 32' new timber tower with 14' x 14' flattop cab and catwalk
was constructed next to it in 1959, the two co-existed for awhile before the
L-4 came down. The lookout remains active.
