Flagstaff Lookout in northeastern Washington
is one of the last active DNR lookouts in the state. The site was first used by the
U.S. Forest Service in 1935 (Colville National Forest) and transferred to the
Washington Department of Natural Resources in the late 1940s. The present 40'
wooden tower with DNR flattop 14' x 14' cab with catwalk was constructed in
1971.
