Harris Mountain Lookout, a 50 wooden tower with 14 x 14 live-in cab and catwalk is the only tower of its type in the state of Maine. It was built by the U.S. Forest Service and originally stood on the Allegheny National Forest in northwestern Pennsylvania. In 1940 the tower was dismantled and purchased by the Maine Forest Service, which moved it to its present location.

Current Harris Mountain photos, taken on March 12, 2006, have been provided courtesy of Mick Womersley of Unity College.  Click on photo for enlarged view.
